Alaska Native Plant of the Year 2025

In 2025, we’re celebrating two remarkable species as our Native Plants of the Year: feltleaf willow (Salix alaxensis) and netleaf willow (S. reticulata). While they may be different in form, one growing tall and resilient, the other hugging the ground—both play an essential role in Alaska’s ecosystems.
